Motor trim guage question

I have a digital trim gauge on my Key West. All of the sudden it is off on the current trim. When the motor is trimmed all the way down it shows it only half way down, when it is trimmed about halfway up (about the point where it starts to trim faster) it shows it as being all the way up which is normal. This isn’t a huge deal by any means but it is kind of annoying. Is this something that I can fix easily or do I need to have it looked at the next time I have the boat serviced (which needs to be soon)?

Thanks in advance.

That sounds similar to what I have experienced in the past. My problem was a broken part in which, I think they call the trim cam sensor. All it is, is a plastic ring with a tab. The tab is what the roller on the switch moves on. The switch gets all kind of grease and gunk on it, making it harder to move, so it breaks the plastic tab off. You can get a replacement on for a couple of bucks. I have replaced mine 2 or 3 times. If/when mine breaks again, I plan on using Chris V’s advice and get a SS hose clamp instead of another plastic part. If that is the problem, and you replace it, be sure to boil the new one before putting it on. That will make it much easier to install. It is a ring with a slit on one side that has to be spread to fit back on…
