Mountain Dew saves fish?

Pretty interesting. Has anyone tried this?

I’ve personally seen it done with Sprite but this is a first for Dew.

Earn it everyday

If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.

Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet.

Kinda cool.
YouTube: with this video and the recent one I watched on harvesting worms with black walnuts, I’m gonna be a pretty smart fisherman one of these days. It’s amazing what people come up with that works!

Very interesting but I dont think it’s going to save any fish that have trauma to their gills. I’d be willing to bet the long term effect will be the same with or without “mountain dew”. Seems pretty silly to me.

Can’t speak for saltwater fish, but like I said, I’ve personally seen it work n bass during a tournament. Guy I was fishing with caught a bass and hook stuck its gill. Upon CAREFULLY removing the hook, the bass was bleeding pretty bad. He popped open a Sprite and dumped it into the fish’s mouth, down over the gills. A couple of seconds of that and the bleeding stopped. Six hours later, he pulled it from his live well as one of his five keepers he weighed in. Weighed it in, took it to the release boat, and the fish was released alive and well. This type of things has been said to work for years within the fishing community. Silly or not, its legs wouldn’t have lasted this long if there wasn’t some truth to it. People used to say the rumor that the earth was round was silly.

In the future, where every stranger poses a potential threat, knowing the predator mindset is the only safe haven.

I wonder if it would work for people and dogs too, or only fish? Frogs, lizards, gators?

We could buy it and re-label it under the name of Bloody Gill Fish-Saver:smiley:

I don’t know about that, maybe so. There are a lot of things I don’t know though, still learning, think I’m getting dumber every day.

Seen a lot and fished with some of the best, but this is a first. Even in some bass tournaments never heard this one.

All kinds of remedies/cures out there, and still more to be found. Next time I fowl hook something I’ll give it a try.

Cracker, next time I cut myself I’ll give it a try too!

Be sure and let me know how that works out for you

I don’t know about reviving fish but, when my youngest was really young we would NOT give him the Dew. It was like giving him crack.
