Mounting Trolling motor

I have a 1765 Carolina skiff and was wondering what would be a good way to mount the trolling motor because it has the lip and then a small drop to the deck. Anybody have any tips?

Can you post a picture of the deck?

This is the only one I have right now. The previous owner just put a piece of a 2x4 up under the old one but the new trolling motor is more powerful and I just want a more stable mount.

That’s easy, what Chris said. A piece of starboard will take care of that. A block of 2X4 wouldn’t work for me either, somebody might see me [:0]

Where could I get a piece of starboard?

Where are you located? There is restaurant supply place in Charleston (can’t remember name), Piedmont Plastics in Columbia and if you are not in a hurry, I have dealt with a company called acesany on Ebay.

I am in union and will check the place on eBay to see what they have. I may also check the place in Columbia as I go to school here during the week.

A plastic cutting board from Walmart would probably work just fine. It’s the same material.
