Striper transition proves to be tough fishing, but not tough enough for May Tournament.
Midlands Striper Club held its monthly Lake Murray tournament out of Acapulco, SC on May 18, 2019. 33 teams participated in the event bringing 62 striped bass to the scales weighing a total of 390.49 pounds with a 6.30-pound average. 30 teams were able to bring a full two fish creel to the scales.
Finishing in first place with a total weight of 26.92 pounds was Team Even Kreel captained by John Sightler from Lexington, SC along with Jeff LeCount, from Chapin, SC, and Spencer Nickel, from Lexington, SC.
Team Even Kreel won the Justin Christopher Big Fish Award sponsored by the Nichols Store with a 18.01 pound Striper.
Finishing in second place with a total weight of 22.05 pounds was Team Carolina River Rats captained by Brent Sires from West Columbia, SC, along with Tom Hartman from Irmo, SC.
Finishing in third place with a total weight of 19.14 pounds was Team Well Hung captained by Brett McDowell, from Saluda, SC along with Jason Tarlton from Saluda, SC and Mitch Pardue from Johnston, SC.
Lady Angler Award went to Susan Mullins from Team Daisy Bird.
Youth Angler Award went to Spencer Nickle from Team Even Kreel.
Finishing in eleventh place with a total weight of 12.49 pounds was Team Reel Therapy.
