Midlands Striper Club held its monthly Lake Murray tournament out of Acapulco, SC on October 17, 2020. A total of 24 teams participated in the MSC October Tournament. With double-digit winds, lingering COVID-19 concerns, and a transitioning striper population, fishing on the lake was definitely challenging, but the MSC got it done. A total of 41 striped bass were brought to the scales weighing a total of 241.26 pounds with a 5.88-pound average. Nineteen teams were able to bring a full two fish creel to the scales.
Finishing in first place with a total weight of 16.07 pounds was Team Fish Whistle captained by Mitch Craps from Monetta, SC along with Tim Schumpert, also from Monetta, SC.
Team Fish Whistle also won the Justin Christopher Big Fish award sponsored by the Nichols Store with an 8.79-pound Striper.
Finishing in second place with a total weight of 15.58 pounds was Team Knot Right captained by Allen Rodgers from Saluda, SC, along with Mitch Long from Ward, SC.
Finishing in third place with a total weight of 14.87 pounds was Team Knot IV Shore, captained by Wayne Condrey from Gaston, SC.
Lady Angler Award went to Liz Sineath from Team Stone Age.
Youth Angler Award went to Hunter Raffield from Team Catchall.
Eleventh place with a total weight of 11.06 pounds was Team Stone Age.
