God’s Reel Men bring in the win on the Hill.
On August 19, 2017, the Midlands Striper Club held its annual Clark’s Hill / Thurmond Lake Tournament. 22 teams participated in the Tournament. A total of 43 striped bass were brought to the scales weighing a total of 299.50 pounds with a 6.97 pound average. 21 teams were able to bring a full two fish creel to the scales.
Finishing in first place with a total weight of 22.14 pounds was Team God’s Reel Men captained by Jerry Broughton from Columbia, SC, along with Joy Youngblood and Ricky Dubose both from Aiken, SC.
Finishing in second place with a total weight of 22.11 pounds was Team LandLocked captained by Richy Brensinger from Lexington, SC along with Joey Smoak from Lexington, SC and Wayne Bell from Prosperity, SC.
Team LandLocked also won the Justin Christopher Big Fish Award sponsored by the Nichols Store with a 15.66-pound Striper.
Finishing in third place with a total weight of 17.90 pounds was Team Knot IV Shore captained by Wayne Condrey from Gaston, SC along with Tom Hartman from Columbia, SC.
Finishing in eleventh place with a total weight of 13.17 pounds was Team Trophy Ridge.
Finishing in eighteenth place with a total weight of 11.88 pounds was Team Catchall.
Smallest creel went to Team Gonna Fish with a total weight of 6.45 pounds.
Lady Angler Award went to Liz Sineath from Team Stone Age.
Youth Angler Award went to Trent Swygert from Team Rippin Lips.
The Palmetto State Armory Fishing Outpost prize went to Team Rippin Lips.
