Striper transition proves to be tough fishing for May Tournament.
Midlands Striper Club held its monthly Lake Murray tournament out of Acapulco, SC on May 19, 2018. 30 teams participated in the event bringing 43 striped bass to the scales weighing a total of 279.08 pounds with a 6.49-pound average. 20 teams were able to bring a full two fish creel to the scales.
Finishing in first place with a total weight of 17.34 pounds was Team Gar-Heart captained by Shawn Gearheart along with Daniel Sullivan, both from Lexington, SC.
Finishing in second place with a total weight of 16.99 pounds was Team Well Hung captained by Jason Tarlton from Saluda, SC, along with Brett McDowell and Jacob Black also from Lexington, SC.
Finishing in third place with a total weight of 16.67 pounds was Team Knot Right captained by Allen Rogers from Saluda, SC, along Mitch Long from Ward, SC.
Team Hooker’s Dream won the Justin Christopher Big Fish Award sponsored by the Nichols Store with a 9.45 pound Striper.
Lady Angler Award went to Susan Martinez from Team Hooker’s Dream.
Youth Angler Award went to Spencer Nickle from Team Even Kreel.
