Team Well Hung hangs in for the win during tough October transition.
Midlands Striper Club held its monthly Lake Murray tournament out of Acapulco, SC on October 21, 2017. A total of 25 teams participated in the MSC October Tournament. With unusually warm water temperatures and a transitioning striper population, fishing on the lake was understandably tough. A total of 26 striped bass were brought to the scales weighing a total of 145.43 pounds with a 5.59-pound average. Eleven teams were able to bring a full two fish creel to the scales.
Finishing in first place with a total weight of 14.64 pounds was Team Well Hung captained by Jason Tarlton from Saluda, SC, along with Brett McDowell and Jacob Black also from Lexington, SC.
Finishing in second place with a total weight of 13.77 pounds was Team Seine Crew captained by Lucas Robertson from Saluda, SC, along with Marcus Robertson and Charles Lang also from Saluda, SC.
Finishing in third place with a total weight of 13.44 pounds was Team Hard of Herring captained by Riff Browning from Columbia, SC, along with Mike Browning from Cayce, SC.
Team Reel Determination won the Justin Christopher Big Fish award sponsored by the Nichols Store with a 7.91-pound Striper.
Finishing in eleventh place with a total weight of 8.36 pounds was Team Keep’n it Reel.
Smallest creel went to Team Stone Age with a total weight of 3.55 pounds.
Lady Angler Award went to Dalia Riester from Team Reel Kaos.
Youth Angler Award went to Dobson Ricks from Team Motley Crew.
The Palmetto State Armory Fishing Outpost prize went to Team Knot IV Shore.
