Mt Pleasant pier this afternoon

My wife caught this nice flounder (3 lbs and about 20") off of the Mt Pleasant pier this afternoon, and lost another big one that came off the hook. Plenty of bites, also caught a small bluefish as well. Fished the incoming tide with a bottom rig with mud minnows. We caught a flounder and trout there over the weekend as well on the afternoon incoming tide.

Nice, one of the few reports that I hear from there that ate productive, you mist be doing something different! Good report and welcome to the site!

Sorry about the photo not coming thru the first time, I compressed it so now it available.

BTW, we have fished this pier in the past many times with no real luck, only this time we were using living bait instead of cut bait. Seemed to make a difference.

We are going Kayak fishing this weekend putting in at Paradise island and going around the creeks in that area. We’ve had good luck there in the past few times we went with lures, but this time we will be using live bait.

Watch out for Mr. Gator in the first creek on the right paddling away from Paradise towards the harbor …

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

I noticed that you have on a arm band…does it cost to use the pier at Mt. P?

Nice flattie! Welcome.

$5 for Charleston County Residents, $8 if you’re not, they have a commercial fishing license

Congrats. Fish can be caught if you know how, where, and when to fish for em. Flounder, Reds, Trout, and Sheepies are caught all the time!

Insert Funny Line Here

The sheeps have drastically decreased in catch rate on the pier, have a friend that works out there and I have tried twice this year with no luck at all

Thanks for all the positive kudos, well appreciated. We enjoy reading the forum a lot, we are new to fishing here but are from here originally. Caught the bug last year and started going more and more and now we’re hooked on it.

We had a boat up until about 3 weeks ago, and sold it to put a deposit down on a new one. Hope to be getting a 20’ Seafox XT bay boat in the next week or so. Plan on trying some off shore fishing later as well with it on calm days. Can’t wait!

drastically reduced sir? perhaps but they also caught the new pier record sheepshead not too long ago

i worked there for almost 2 years. great fishing at times… not so great at other times… just like anywhere else

my experience leads me to believe that yes live bait is indeed the key out there… although jiggin jerry absolutley slays the trout using yes jigs

seriously a fantastic place to spend a day. put in some time out there and figure it out. good luck

Where is the pier located?

At the foot of ravenel bridge opposite the bridge of pats park. On left going in Mt p, but with the “construction land” I’m not sure exactly how you get there

when structure is fished correctley even crowded areas produce.

Here’s my 10 cents, my 2 cents is free

Wow, spend my time, I have fished that pier more than most, and have caught a lot of fish from over slot reds, large trout, big flounder, and lots of sheeps last year … Yes I jigged for them … and use live bait for the fiddlers. But compared to the past 2 years, it is producing less fish than before

But that is only my opinion … which does equate to much

and Stretch don’t team up with northchucky haha

I never said they would produce as well as before crowds got there…but the 10% of fishermen will still catch 90% of the fish.

Stretch ain’t lying because I am the 90% that catches the remaining 10%.
