Mt. Pleasant Pier under the Ravenel

Mt. Pleasant Pier under the Ravenel.

One word sums it up. NADA. Nothing. The first thing I did when I got to the pier was question all the fishermen. Three guys mentioned some kind of junk bottom fish, don’t remember the name and 1 guy said he caught a small perch. Otherwise, seems everyone got there to spend a pretty day near the water. I was hoping to get there, prior to 8am to catch the high tide, the pier said high tide was 8:56 am, I didn’t make it until 10 am. Walmart tire service was especially slow. Anyway, I fished two hours, from 10-12 with dead shrimp. One on the bottom with a small sinker, and one on top floating with a bobber. Nothing bit.

So I went out this weekend and got myself a 12’ surf rod, an ugly stick.

Next weekend I go home and come back with my kayak.

At least you got to stick it to Walmart in this post…goood lord. Enjoy the lowcountry and all it can offer an outdoorsman

Well, when you ask a company like Walmart how long their going to take and they tell you 1 hour, and then take over two hours I’m of the impression you have a right to be annoyed. Especially, since there were only two cars ahead of me, and my car sat out side for an hour before they even touched it.

However, next weekend I’ll have my yak here and really enjoy the low country and I like it here and next time I’ll change my own (**() oil and save $30.00 and time to boot.

you can always blow the fish whistle and wash all your troubles away…

Boatless

We take our vets there to fish sometimes…easy access for them…and have talked to a few people who seem to fish there a lot…have seen some nice sheep aught along the left hand side…but not off of the end itself…and a couple trout and flounder along the marsh line on the right hand side…and lots of blue fish andi pinfish.

Maybe i went at the wrong time the wrong season or the wrong bait. certainly may try it another day.

certainly had similar days to that out there but also have caught my share of nice trout and reds out there

it can be a frustrating place but i enjoy the atmosphere. you won’t find a better maintained pier anywhere on this coast. and the moron ratio is usally low… usually :stuck_out_tongue:

Overall it was verynice, just reporting that nothing bit. I think they call that being skunked. LOL

This weekend, I head to fl. to bring back my yak, so I should have more luck going forward.

Nice sheepsheads fishing today at the pier. Key is using fiddlers or mussels. The place was amazingly clean and the staff was super nice. Fellow fishers weren’t super chatty, but who is at 8 am? Left sided, 3/4 down was the locals hotspot. In :30 mins two guys pulled in 16" sheeps.

i know one of the guys.he’s not real chatty at first.he’ll be the first one to help out when it’s needed though.he fishes and catches sheeps there regularly.

I went last Saturday, bitter and not a single thing biting although one man did manage a 9inch sheep.

I’m so salt life I sued google earth for giving away all of my fishing spot’s.

I was out there 9:30-11:30. Caught a 8 incher had some good bights. Had someones 6 year old girl pull the hook.
