Left bushy park under amazing conditions…mistake number 1… Under estimated the strength and speed of which the tide would pull out due to an almost full moon… Mistake number 2… Hurried back to bushy to beat the storms and the receding water and didnt realize the usable lane was in the middle… Mistake 3… Stuck in the pluff mud!!! A crabber tried to get us out but no luck, it was already to shallow and I couldn’t use my motor… Several boaters passed right by as I tried to flag them down but they just kept going… Then a shallow sneak boat with a mud motor came by and braved the mud and the storm and hauled us to the ramp… Minus the boat!! Thank you guys for saving us!! We are very grateful for your help. Was definitely turning into a bad situation due to the weather. Came back later and hitched a ride out to my boat floating at high tide, what a happy sight. Thanks again to the guys in the lifted black Tahoe and sneak boat.
Too bad that landing is so screwed up, you are definitely not alone in getting stuck.
You might have been upset about flagging several boaters with no help, but they really have no choice. You have to blast in there on full plane, as soon as you back off you are stuck. Plus they probably would not have been able to get to you anyway. Its an awful situation, picture someone having a heart attack and getting stuck like that

Was one of the ones who passed by, sorry but as Opti said if I would have stopped I would have been stuck there with you. Glad you made it out ok. My general rule there is 2 hours before or after low tide if trying to launch or return to dock. Unless a full moon then closer to 3 hours.

Grtlakes nailed it, 2 hours before and after low tide. It’s such a pain to plan a trip around when you can get in and out of there especially if anot unexpected storm rolls up. My first trip in my boat a few years ago I pushed it too close to the two hours before low tide. Wound up stuck with an outgoing tide, thank God a mud boat came along and pulled us free. It just gets worse every year, nearly missed the window a few weeks ago on the low low tide, came in right at three hours before low tide.

Was this you? Saw the boat on my way home from work Monday…didn’t see anyone on it so I’m pleased to read you were ‘rescued’ already and that you got away and back to it safely…sucks about your friends truck and belongings. Lesson learned I guess.

somebody needs to take gov. anchor baby and her husband fishing and get stuck there- it would be dredged the next week
Got to stay more out towards the middle. Man, it is a shame they won’t fix that place.

Should start taking up a collection instead of waiting for the gubment. What ever happened to Reaganomics?
Epres, I would be totally fine with paying a yearly fee to be able to use the landing if it went towards keeping the landing usable at all stages of the tide. Might be time to call some representatives before the November elections.

Info you might not know. Talked again tonight with a Berkeley County Councilman friend to verify. The county has six acres just north of the present Bushy Park landing that is actually on the river with very deep water and no silt problems. They are going to build another landing there, but the present landing will still be left for anyone to use.
I asked him to get me a timeline on this new landing and I will post it sometime next week.
Yes, what a shameful picture#128543; Lessons learned. Think I’ll just stick to remleys. Maybe one day they will give that place some help. Too bad, it’s a decent facility.

I’ve started using the extra gas and launching at Cypress and running the river down. In addition to not getting stuck, it gives me a chance to run the boat in fresh water to flush the engines.

DNR should at least put a marker out there.

Wonder how long this will sit around, half under water and stuck in the mud, with no numbers that I could see…Did just hear that it wasn’t there this morning, I forgot to look though.

They would have to “mark” the entire boat landing.
That boat was high and dry last night 25 July.
Sitting on the rocks.
Numbers scratched off, though you can still see/guess what was there.
I like the leopard seat covers!

Of course markers don’t always help! This guy hit the bridge at full speed and nearly ended up in 4 lanes of traffic on Lake Greenwood last month.

They pulled it to the parking lot Tuesday where it sat until yesterday. Noticed the motor was removed while it sat on the pavement. This morning the whole thing is gone.
