My kids have found a nice hole close to the house to catch mud minnows. There are usually 6-10 dozen here. If you need some and are heading out, stop by and get some. I put my minnows traps in that spot also! i live on secessionville road by camp it is a great spot, glad your advertising free minnows i was about to do it.

That spot is hot for minnows. I would like to find an old koi pond or tank to keep them outside. Then whoever could scoop some out then go fishing.
I was looking at a house previously that had a koi pond - with no fish. I even posted on here about converting it…
I asked the homeowner why there werent any koi, he said cats+raccoons ate them all. something to consider =)

I already thought about that. My lab has helped himself to a few already today. It’s just a thought and like many I have had, I expect many drawbacks. The kids enjoy the mud and they only cost me a handful of dog food to catch.
Hey Matt, I live nearby and would be interested in your offer so I will probably be calling you. I will bring you some deer meat or your kids a little gift or something like that for the minnows. I usually only need about two or three dozen for my trips on Sunday and sometimes on Wednesdays.

Let me know a day before hand, I got hammered by several people and gave away 10 dozen. I told my son about a deer meat/minnow barter and he likes the thought of that.
MattR, Those look like some healthy mud minnows, shouldn’t they be leaving soon though, I checked my spot, near Battery Island Dr on the way home from work and seemed to be gone already

I really don’t know if/when they leave. The spot I go there are still a mess of them. I just set the trap for jimmyaadams and in 4 hours caught 4-5 dozen. They are a little small but probably 30% are corn fed Midwestern minnows.
