Has anyone experimented with finding the best bait for trapping mud minnows? Mine are onto my catfood in a sock trick.
Big discussion on here a while back on that topic, maybe you can search for it.Nothings better than a blue crab after you pull the back off.
Blue crabs are kinda short supply in my creek right now.

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

Vienna sausage. Cheap and works great. Use it all the time
Stop wasting good food on minners ha ha.I have a few spots that leave the minnows stranded in a pool at low tide ,1 throw of the castnet and you have all you need.Everytime I leave a trap out overnight, something happens to it,thieves, otters, coons, gators, etc.Anyone have a good idea on how to keep them alive at the house without too much trouble?
White bread works great and as long as you change out the water and feed them they will live. The more minnows to water ratio the more you have to change the water. I had some minnows for a month before they got used. The little minnows work the best, they are more likely on the hook.

I use minnow bucket with an aerator. You can get them at any bait shop and probably at Wally World for around $15-20. Should keep them alive for at least a few days.
I’ve had some in a bucket in my garage for maybe 6 weeks and they are still happy. I have given them no food but a few minutes with an aerator every week or two. The grandkids have handled and dropped them on the floor, and the dog chewed on one but they are all still very much alive. Tough critters. The cold temperature probably helps.
i like to get crab or mulet
