Murray 3/14

Fished late yesterday and got a few small stripers and one 27" striper a foot from the bank. Went back today(late) and found fish @ the back of a cove(2’ deep). Got 17 fish with at least 10 over 21"(keepers). All released. Fish ate chart./white Fish Skull deceiver and a Somethin’ Else.

Man that’s killer. i was just talking to a guy who was talking about chasing strippers on the broad river through Columbia. I’m not looking to steal your spots or anything but what advice would you give on fishing strippers on Lake Murray? I have a 17 foot flats boat but have never put in on that lake. I live in the mts of NC right now but have good friends and family in Columbia and would like to give it a shot, never chased a stripper on the fly…yet… and I would love to add to the list! Thanks

If it swims throw a fly at it!

i gotta get yalls contact info…my friend lives up in the col/irmo area and we hit the lake all the time. i take my fly rods - 8wts one rigged w floating one rigged with sinking - i have deer hair poppers, clouser galore, and can tie pretty much whatever i need to in order to get a fish to bite. I am extremely obsessed with tossin the fly rod and want to catch any fish, any where, in any conditions.
BUT, I have never even been able to get on them, or be where i need to be at the right time.

“theAQ” is my friend that lives in col.

ft worry.

PM next time you’re headed up. Get you hooked up

If you want a striper on the fly, get on Murray right now. Just watch out for the pocket pullers throwing bucktails and blowing the schools up:smiley:

Saw dudes putting 2# stripers on the Boga yesterday and squinting to catch the weight…funny!

hahaha, squinting, i like that. I’ve been hearing good things about murray lately, even my hartwell boys have been makin the trip down there. That’s cool to find em up that shallow, good to stretch out the floatin line before the herring spawn
