Plan ahead.

Oh I’ll plan ahead. To scope out plenty of bream and crappie holes.

it is about time. should be good for the lake and also will help out with the bass and crappie later on. the grass that will grow in the shallow coves will leave a little water for the hatchlings to hide in until large enough to fend for themselves. will also help the water quality.

It’s good for the lake and fishery that they draw it down like that. I would argue that it would be more beneficial to leave it down longer so that grasses and bushes could start growing in the shallows.

Murray and Santee are old lakes that don’t have the fertility they used to. They need all the help they can get

I agree, it would be nice to have a little bit of green stuff, weeds, etc. get covered up around March or April. Then maybe we would have another great year for the spawn. After Murray was drawn down for the dam repair/construction the largemouth and other species had a couple of great spawning years. That is until the grass carp ate everything green.
