Murray Early morning question

When the sun is coming up, are fish usually chasing bait in the coves off the main lake or in the main lake itself? I know this depends and probably varies, but just a little insight would be greatly appreciated. I’ve only chased them in the evening and never the morning so I am going to give it a go, thanks.

I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer here. I have caught them in the coves in 20 feet of water at sunrise, and the next day caught them schooling over the main river channel in 100+ feet.

And the most schooling activity I have witnessed in the past 14 years, came at 1:30 PM, with bluebird skies in March. Probably 3 acres of striper’s were schooling on top for over 2 hours. I am sure I caught well over 100! Not the norm, but a memory maker for sure.

Alright thanks, i’ll give it a go and see what I am come across

I just always go where my experience tells me. This time of the year, I find the biomass to be no more than a mile off the river channel and still deep with occasional topwater schooling. I rarely chase schools. Sure. I’ll throw on em if they come up within casting range. However, as a tournament angler, I can’t depend on schooling fish. The deep fish are more dependable. A week or so after turnover, I’ll start turning my attention to the shallows upriver with planers and corks. But for right now, it’s still downrods and metal.

Hope this helps!

I’ve seen them school all hours of the day but mainly from sunrise till noon and from 5 till sundown. As the cooler weather sets in you should start seeing them make there way up towards mid lake till turnover.

They have been schooling every where from the dam to bomb. Not right when the sun comes up they have been starting around 8
