Seems to be hit or miss, but people are catching them. Seems to be miss when I go. I do better in the spring, so hopefully I will start catching them again soon. I get to fish more when the clocks spring ahead.

I may be out early sunday morning. There is a chance I am trading in the Pioneer 175 for its bigger brother on Saturday (if we can get the deal to work out)…so I may be out there Sunday breaking in the new motor and tossing some lines in.
you guys trolling shallow or drifting down rods?

hey sharky; i am planning on fishing the little saluda sat morn. sometime. i will most likely put in at camp barstow. give me a shout. i am going to give tom a call and maybe he can go. i gotta get a fix or go nuts. time to take the cover off of the boat.
I have to finish my boat this weekend. I have to connect the steering, connect and bleed the hydraulic lines, put the motor in and align it, then put the outdrive back in. Plus an oil change and tune up. If i had a nice garage like coolbreeze i could do that chit after work. But its sitting in the middle of a field.
I’ll be thinkin of you guys while I’m workin both days this weekend. Be sure and report how y’all do. We did OK above Clouds Creek a couple of weeks ago.
i put in at camp barstow. i went about an hour or so later than planned because when i unplugged my battery charger i had to get the ice off of the seats. drifted tight line jigs and tuffies around herlong’s branch and the rocks. then went up the river to harmon’s bridge. the water was a lot muddier there but the fish were there. just finished cleaning a goodmess of crappie. yum yum!
hey steelytom: shoulda been with me saturday. beautiful day and great time. found lots of fish. and by the way; to correct you. it is not a garage. the double garage is connected to the house. the item that you are talking about; and thanks for the compliment; is considered a workshop. all 1200 sq ft of it. down here that is what we call them. i guess up there in yankeeland youse guys just have to come up with something. how about checking on a kitchen pass for next weekend. i am going back and whip those crappies into a frenzy.
Well up north we call it the “get away from the wife shop”. Phishinphan and I have a full weekend pass and plan on fishing from sun up saturday until Sunday afternoon. We are actually camping on dreher island. Maybe we will meet up with you whatever day you are going. What did you catch those crappie on, or as we say up there “cropy”
What about all you other guys that went, no reports?
I got out for a few hours sat. afternoon …found fish in a couple different spots(30 ’ bottom depth) …no takers on bbh (2 planers-1 down)
I ran into sharky and sparky out there …they had a couple shorts and were still fishin’ when I headed in
in the clearer water around clouds creek and the channel to the power lines i was using a lead jig head/chartreuse jig ; up in the river in the muddier or dingy water it was a plain yellow/red head jig. also used a black/chartreuse jig in the clearer water. all were tipped with tuffies. call me around thurs night or friday night. you guys will be a good bit away from where i am planning on fishing unless you take a good 5-8 mile boat ride up the little saluda.
Could not get the engine aligned before nightfall sunday so we will be in pierces jon boat. Dont think we will be heading up lake by boat that far with a 25hp. but if there are no fish down where we are we may jump in the truck and come up. Depends on the fishing. We will be chasing after the stripers.
i could tell you where they are at but i would have to kill you.they are still holding in the place when i first saw the 2 of you.you just need to slow down to almost a dead stop.the same technique is working.it’s not that bad of a ride to where coolbreeze is fishing from dreher.don’t forget i’m running a 25 also.it takes me about 10 minutes to get to the power lines from the camp ground.i’m going shark fishing this weekend.

thanks sharky. if we aren’t fighting the wind, we’ll likely start up in that area, then try and get out of the wind in the afternoon. some of the forecasts are looking a bit rough. i told steely we need to pick up sailing since every time we plan a trip it’s blowing 20 knots. of course, as soon as we started trying to sail, the dam winds would disappear!
can’t wait! 36 hours of non-stop, no responsibility fishing!
