Had the best night of the year as far as keeper ratio and avg size fish. Wound up catching 6 fish with only one being short. All the other 5 were right at 24"… give or take 1/2" either way. Trolled the big water from 7:30 - 11:00 PM catching them anywhere from 25’ to 40’.
SS - I know your trolling Down Riggers, but how many lines are you pulling? I’ve been trying, but not getting the hook ups you did. I pull 3 - 4 lines with two down deep on planers, and one or two running free line.
Steve, I troll with 2 DR’s and 1 rod on each. You can troll a 2nd rod on each, but it’s a real PITA to me and not worth the effort. I also pulled a flatline sinking rapala with a 2oz trolling sinker about 6’ ahead of it. I believe 2 of the fish came off it.
Tim, Looks like the weather next weekend is gonna be pretty nasty, but you never know it could change in a second. What colors seem to be producing for you on your plugs.
Thanks for the info. I’ll keep working with what I have, (No DR’s) and see what I can get to work. I know live bait is catching more keepers, but I like to try different things.

Yep, looking bad for the weekend, but we have a couple of houses rented and we’re locked in now. Calling for 6’ seas just at the Edisto 60. Been working a lot of hours, so I’m just ready for a break anyway. I have access to some crab traps to use down there and hopefully we can manage a redfish or 2.
Yea still headin down fri night, really goin down to celebrate wedding anniversary.wifesaid i couldfish one day of the weekend. we will probably inshore also, but mightget out in the sound and troll around in the sound/buoys for some kings. wont really know till we get down there. got two new rod/reels that i am dyin to use offshore, but probably wont get that lucky. i would rather eat those bottom dwellers versus the mercury missles any day…lol… hollor at me on the radio if u get out in the sound or anything.
