Pretty strong west wind when we got on the water about 10. Saw lots of fish north of Susie island in 50-60 feet of water from 35 feet to the bottom, but didn’t see much in Beard’s Creek or on our drift west from Burton Point back to Susie. Only managed to bring three in with downrods right off the bottom. They were 23, 25, and 26. Capt also saw a gar that was bigger than she was.
That wind was something wasn’t it?

My brother is in town so I played guide today and tried to put him on some fish. We put in at Hilton a little before 8 and immediately found breaking fish in the mouth of John’s creek. They were breaking off and on for about 1/2 an hour. The best schooling I’ve seen this fall. All shorts but a lot of fun. Managed one FAT 24 inch keeper on a downrod in the creek channel. Hard to say how deep my bait was since the wind was pushing us so fast. We were almost trolling. Tried some spoon work but with the wind it was more like “horizontal” jigging- lol
