Murray Last night (pics)

Got a number of little peckerhead stripers but caught a few decent ones, two of which we kept, for tacos tonight. Great evening on the water.

Nice report, and great pics. Fun on the water, that’s it…

Good going and thanks for the report!!

Looks like a great evening. What were you using for bait, Live hearing? On down rods, or free lines?

I heard that boat. I had a few boats all around me once the birds decided to dive around the boat. I was killing them, for a change. water was warm and they were biting. didn’t see anyone around me catch any using artificials. I was alone and couldn’t keep all the rods wet for fish hitting. shallow shallow shallow

heard the same boat playing the same song, and most of the time i heard it they would only play the intro so they all could get it right…lol… pick up a keeper monday pulling live herring. and i agree…shallow shallow shallow…i have been putting herring on down rods at 25’ and 35’ with 1oz on the 25’ and 2oz on the others. i would guess bait is in the 10 to 15’ deep range or shallower but really have no idea. keeper came from the going around the towers bite didn’t start till about 8 and lasted till 10 nothing before and nothing after. also during this time i had one of richards monster herring on a 6oz weight with a 6ft leader down about 35’ and i would guess it mainly stayed in the 20’+ depth range wasn’t moving fast enough to really move the 6oz’s…long story short lazy behind didn’t put a trailor hook on and got 3/4 of a 12" herring scaled. won’t happen again. going friday night wind should calm down by then. anyone else going…

friday night wind looking too iffy for me…has Richard started selling bait at the ramp yet on weekends am?

he was there two weekends ago. and he said that the season was in…lol…so he would be there. unless no one comes then he would have to wait a couple of weeks till the bite was a little better.

I should be out there friday if wind is ok. I was pulling shiners. Didn’t waste any time with down rods. I was pulling planers setting the trolling motor and rolling, and if no hits i would speed up, and then they would hit. big ones came for faster moving baits. Shallow was key didn’t fish over 30 ft. deep anywhere i went pulled a nice out of 9 ft. of water. They are in the chase mode. Oh and for some reason they would only hit a rod with a planer on it. one planer actually took a hit crossing a point. That was fun to watch. I’m going to write a report

Murraymaker,
You should wait until Saturday night. It looks perfect. with the 75* day the water should be warming and turning them on. Winds are supposed to be calm. Looks like friday and friday night will be a pretty strong west wind. That makes for bad conditions at the towers. Saturday winds start out W then switch to S and they are supposed to stay under 5mph all day dropping to 3 at 9:00 when they switch to the South.

we were in a blue 20ft seacraft. We were jammin, but def not playing songs over and over. We were just trollin bucktail/plastics until the birds started doing their thing.
