Murray Sat Night

Washed the boat down with tomato juice to get rid the skunk smell from the last trip and it seemed to work.

Put in a little after 7 and picked up a couple of small stripers and a black bass before dark and then double anchored in 30’ and put the lights out at dark. It didn’t take long for some really nice sized herring to show up and eventually black out the screen.

Caught a bunch of fish a couple of cranks off the bottom and then later pulled anchor and caught some pulling freelines with a 1/8 oz bullet weight. No size to the fish, but did bring home 5 to 24".

Very nice and cool herring pic. I fished Sunday night for the first real time this summer and only managed a couple shorts up until dark near Goat and the Towers. May need to stick it out longer next time. Were you anchored up on a point? I freelined over a few and didnt see much on the graph.

I started out around goat island myself, but I didn’t see much and I get nervous being anchored up in open water on a Saturday night anyway. I didn’t fish any points…just set up in 30’ off the rocks at the dam.

Hey Striperskiff what kind of lights do you use. do you use lights big enough to need a generator. Always catch them during the day and not under lights, but I would like to try. Glad to learn tomato juice takes the skunk out!

It don’t take a whole lot to draw them this time of year as long as it isn’t right around a full moon. Later on the more powerfull lights or a HydroGlow will probably work better, but this is all I use this time of year.

Pick up the dome at Lowes or HD and get the bulbs online or at Campers World on Fernadina Rd. 12V Fluoresent Bulb. Has the illumination of a 60W bulb, but it’s only 15W, so your only drawing 1.25A/bulb. I usually use 3. I saw online they now have a 90W equivilent that is a 23W bulb, which would still only be about 2A/bulb. Cut the plug off a power strip, replace with battery clips and your ready to go for about $20/light.

TheAQ,
I bought a hydraglow and I have 3 or 4 styrofoam floating lights I don’t use anymore. They pull bait up pretty good. I’d sell them for a case of beer (coors original cans). I’m heading out tonight, I also have a v20 with a Evinrude 200.

steely i’d love to go with you sometime and pick up some of your tricks. i’ll bring beer or bait.

Ok, I usually just pick a weeknight that has the lightest wind. I went last night so propbably next week. Bait has been easy to catch, but I usually buy 2 or 3 dozen to fish till they come into the lights around 9:30.

hey daddy tom; give me a call. i want to go fishing.

STEELY i’m going to be off wednesday so if you go send me a message. i’m right in lexington near herndon chevy. otherwise i get off at 11 any other night. lemme know bo
