Got to the launch at 9:00. Searched around for a little and ended up at the beach. Didn’t mark fish, but saw them in the lights. I had a ton of herring in the hydraglow but only caught a few shorts. Threw the net at the herring before leaving and they were all very small. Went to the towers the last hour and got one short and a 23" keeper.
The herring were all tiny, took me 30 minutes to pull them out of my net since they slipped part way through the mesh. I hope the bigger herring show up soon. I really prefer getting my own bait, but these herring were beat up and small.
I was out there last evening pulling freelines and pb’s for a couple of hours before sunset. Started out at Johns Creek and there was too much boat trafic/skiers/jets skis, so we moved over by Jakes. Only wound up with a few short fish.

there are only fish at johns creek when my jon boat is in there…
at least it seems that way…lol… might try and get a cobia this weekend. should be interesting…
I hear the cobia are pretty thick in crystal lake. I was at johns creek saturday morning and never marked a fish. Searched for almost an hour. Kids were with me and were getting really board so we went bream fishing. Caught a couple decent hand sized shell crackers in full color.
Does George have ells now?
not sure, but Richard has had some real nice ocean run herring. It’s fun watching striper blow up on those big herring on a freeline.
Talk about them blowing up, yesterday and last Friday they were blowing my shotgun float 3-4’ out of the water. Think I will replace the float with about a 9" zara spook and see how they like that. Went out yesterday just to catch chum for the cobia I am gonna catch in crystal lake…lol… decided to pull a little bit around the ramp after see large schools of Striper in the shallows. Never started up the outboard, Fished for a couple hrs with 1 small keeper and about 10 shorts. Got mad and left after some thugs ran across my lines and cut all 3. Boat common sense has been LONG gone for some time.
