carolina rig ow dare you ask something like that.they have moved down the lake a little.right out from ramp 3 in 35 ft of water.freelineing and planer boards.didn’t get any on down rods.good luck man.

i have yet to go stripper fishing in my life. i really dont know where to go or what to use. im used to fishin g offshore and fishing inshore for reds, flounders, and specs but want to try something new. i have seen it on t.v before and they make it look so easy. any help???

cody i don’t know much about coastal stripers.i can tell you that murray has some very good striper fishing.just keep up with the post.i’m sure you have some light tackle and a bait tank on your boat.i’m also assuming that you can read a fish finder(not trying to put you down).what size boat you running?i would invite you to fish with me but my little jon boat just ain’t big enough.the alternative is to charter a guide and learn from him.hope this helps if not let me know and try to do better.

Just read through the “can’t wait until they’re back in the salt” thread. If you get past all of the BS there is a lot of good information on saltwater stripers. Or come to murray and follow sharky around. He seems to do pretty good, and allways seems willing to help everyone. If you don’t have a boat i could probably take you out in mine. But I don’t seem to do as well as Sharky, but I’m still learning. But I did just get a new trolling motor which should help me out.

Thanks, I never entered a tournament any way. Although i would have won one last summer if I had entered. The all night tournament. I just have not done as well since the fish scattered. But I also have not fished as much.
the fish are starting to hold up right now.i’m just waiting for them to start back schooling.what kind of troling motor did you get?did you ever get the starter thin gworked out?
I got a minn kota power drive. Wanted an auto pilot but the wife is knocked up with twins. I had an older motorguide that you had to keep your foot on, but it worked (thanks coolbreeze) I got the starter on, but then the impellor on the water pump went. Almost blew the motor. got that fixed and could not get the lower unit back in. The lower seal on the upper gear housing was shot. could not get one until yesterday. Hope to get out of work early to this week some day to have it ready for Saturday. But the way things have been going with it I am sure something else will happen. The boat name is shakey. Thought about changing it but the name really fits.
