Has anyone been catching any lately? I’m thinking about tryin to drown some bait tomorrow or sunday. Just wondering if there are any out there…

went today. lots of birds but no fish. nobody else catching either. pretty strong front last night has given them lockjaw.
gonna try it in the morning.
my buddy went friday morning. he caught 3 keepers and 1 largemouth all on ice flies. he saw another guy catch two at once, and he said one was pushing 30" if not more. he said a lot of guys were catching, not sure how many were keeping.
What part of the lake were they catching in?
I went out yesterday and saw a parking lot full of birds but none of them were diving for bait. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many birds on the water spread out so far. I put in at Pine Island and ran directly over to the lexington side.
I was going to go out earlier this morning but I decided to wait for the weather to clear up a little bit and for the sun to hopefully come out. I’m about to head back out there right now after I stop for bait at Lake World. Probably just put in at the dam.

just got back home from the lake.the assboats are out in full force.had 2 cut off planer boards.they didn’t like what i had to say.fish are scattered,caught 14 keepers,more than i wanted in short fish,kept 5 for tonight.all fish were caught on freelines with herring.the birds are diving some.the fish were caught between ramp 3 and the forks at big mans.the bite got better later in the day.

thanks lynnmcd.now if i can stay on top of them.that’s the hard part.
I hear ya man!! It has slowed way down for me as of late! 1 short fish in the last 4 trips![:0]
I would have to look back on here to see when my last trip was. Hopefully, they’ll make another run by. Or maybe, people are still catching them down here and I just don’t know when, where or how!
I had a good run though!

yea i was getting kind of envious of your trips.i only fish the winter months on murray.jet skiers,assboats,and sightseers can have it the rest of the year.
I know what you mean! I’ll be offshore during the spring and summer!
If the seas are too bad in March - May, I’ll mess with the linesiders!!

Well I caught 1 short one at the tower closest to the Irmo side and 6 more between Goat and Little boat towards Pine Island in 30’ of water. All were undersized. Only keeper was a can of Busch. It looks pretty old as the aluminum was starting to corrode. Kind of a cool catch. At least we didn’t get skunked again.

Good job on the fish sharky, most have had trouble getting keepers. I went out last night. I got to spinners just before 5:00. Got the boat in and it would not start. I thought the battery was dead so I put on my brand new, dual purpose batter and it did the same thing. Cleaned all the connections and same thing again. I am pretty sure it’s the starter. I got used to fishing in phishinphans boat and forgot the plug the last time and flooded the boat pretty good. I am pretty sure I ruined the starter. Since I had three dozen herring I went out with the trolling motor. Trolled out of spinners and went left about a half mile. Never had one hit. Lots of small fish on the FF back in spinners, but nothing hitting herring. I have been averaging more boat repairs than fish. I really need to get a new boat!
my buddy caught the fish between big mans and 3. sharky shoot me an email sometime if you got room for another. i usually ride with my friend chasing birds this time of year and freeline in the summer.
hey steely man; why don’t you just come over and buy my seapro and i will get me another one. i want a tidewater next. also; if anybody knows anybody who is interested in a jet ski i have a great deal on my polaris genesis I. it has everything new but the shell. that includes motor,circuit board,wiring harness,fuel pump,battery, cover,and wesco aluminum trailor. need $3900//obo. son got married and does not use it anymore. really need to sell. less than 30hours.

i actually got the boat cleaned up and put the cover on it this weekend. sure would like to use it on some stripers or catfish. how do you think squid would work on catfish? i have a couple of bags that i picked up while on a shrimp boat this past year. they might just love the stuff.
If it’s stinky enough they’ll probably eat it. Throw a little menhaden oil on that squid while you’re at it!
