Murray Sun Eve 10/30

The plan was to put in at hilton and pull some freelines, but Anglers South was out of bait on the way to the ramp, so we went looking for schooling fish. Put in at hilton, then picked up Mr and Mrs Lawcrusher on the Lexington side about 5:30 and went boat riding in search of the (as of late) ever elusive Lake Murray striped bass.

Never did find any real schooling, but did find a cove back in Big Hollow that had an occassional fish poping on top here and there. Mostly they were popin “there” when we were “here”, but eventually we had a few come up within casting range and wound up with 3 shorts.

Last Tuesday I searched Hollow creek near the main river channel, the islands between hollow and dreher, Macedonia church area, crystal lake and Timberlake. Never saw more than the occasional blip on the finder. Four days before I searched from the dam all the way to John’s Creek with no fish. I think I’m heading all the way up lake next trip.

Went out Monday evening and found some fish in the “general” area described by the above. 4 fish all short except a 23" fatty.

Haven’t been out in a while, and was shopping more than anything. Fish seem a week behind from last year, probably just me. Fish ate a small Somethin’ Else (fly) variation in 8’ of water.

That was a lot of fun watching the rats crash the top waters … can only imagine what it’ll be like when there’s a whole school crashing the surface … boat’s going to be outta commission for a little while until I can clean out the fuel system - apparently when the fuel tank fitting corroded it dumped deposits into the system and a Yamaha 4-Stroke has 3 separate fuel filters … sooooo presuming that everything is caught in one of three filters and/or none of the deposits damaged either one of the fuel pumps and/or clogged one or more of the injectors … well … you get the picture … LOL … so I guess I’ll be ripping the outboard apart this weekend while my Wife taps her foot (impatiently) behind me …   … thanks again for taking us out one of these days well figure out a way to make it up to you LOL

it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish now!!!
