Murray Thurs Eve 6/28

Since my youngest grandson couldn’t make it the day before, I decided to do a short trip with just me and him this time. We got on the water right at 7 and could see some really nice size schooling fish shortly after we pulled away from the dock. They had stopped schooling before we got over there, but they were still there at about 35’-40’.

We put down a few down rods and it wasn’t long before we had the first fish on.

Austin did a great job and wound up putting a nice keeper in the boat.

After that we had a chinese fire drill for a short time, catching some more before they just vanished.

We had a lull for a little while and then started picking some up pulling free lines as the sun went down.

Called it quits about 9:15. Never really kept count, but we probably caught about a dozen fish, with 5 or 6 being keeper size.

Way to go guys! Tim, it looks like Austin may have some of your fishing genes or maybe you’ve taught him well. Either way, it’s good to be on the water and catching fish is a plus.

I’d rather fish than eat.

A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.

He is quite the angler. I know my son would have loved to be there yesterday, but it just didn’t work out 2 days in a row.

Hope to see you on the water. If you go tomorrow morning or july 3rd evening let me know as I should be out there in my boat.

Nice job Tim, always good to see kids enjoy fishing. How much did that fish weigh. It’s either really big or you’ve taught him the art of making fish look bigger in pictures. I’m heading out tonight.

Actually, I was so anxious to get baits back in the water I never bothered looking at the scale. It’s broke and doesn’t read acurate anyway. He was having trouble hanging on to the fish for a pic and it was an easy way for him to hold it up. I think it was probably about 8 lbs. It was 28". He does seem to have a knack for making them look bigger for the camera though. I have no idea where he picked that up from.

Where you putting in at?

I’m good at that too, the fish in my avatar is only 8 lbs. I’m heading out tonight about 6, might have to fish from the water. Opened the door to go outside and it was like opening the door to an oven
