Murray Tues Nite 6/7

Hit the lake with my youngest grandson about 6 something and headed straight to the towers for some bait. Spent way too long there catching bait, but he was having such a good time jigging them up we kept staying for “one more”.

Stayed there over an hour and then headed up the lake to a hump I have fished in the past. Started marking fish right away and got set up quick. Had the first fish before we had the 3rd rod in the water and they continued to bite steady for the next hour before slowing down right around 9:00. Nothing big, but constant action including a couple of doubles.

Anchored up in 38’. Fished 3 rods with live bait and 3 with cut. Every striper came off live bait, although we did have 1 keeper get off at the boat that was on cut bait right at dark. Also, got a 6 lb cat on cut. Brought back a 22", 24" and the catfish.

Sounds like your grandson had a good time! Ha im still trying, but I promise I will post a pic as soon as I catch my first. I just figured out that the 1pm is probably not the best time to catch stripers, so I think my luck will start to change soon!

Nice! I bet that was fun! I didn’t make it out last night but im trying to get out soon. Did u jig all the bait or they still up on top where you can get a net on them?

Nice! a dozen of bait - $6.00. A pound of fish $5.00. A great time with your family on the lake… priceless !!!

AQ, we just jigged them, so never threw the net. They weren’t as close to the surface as on Saturday, but you could still look straight down and just barely see them circling when you pulled right up to the tower.

ELCID, I have caught some of my biggest fish from noon to 2pm in the middle of july and august. after the bait disappears away from the towers in a couple of weeks, they will pod up around mid day in front of the towers about 40-60’deep. except they are now about 8"+ long. jig them up and put them right back down about 5-10’ deeper than you caught’em. usally don’t last 5min. and most of the time it takes a keeper to eat these bigger baits.
