Found plenty of fish early this AM in 60 foot cut near a point just north of Susie G. Several times they filled up the screen, BUT the bite was again really slow and the ones we caught were small, 4 shorts and two 21 inch. The big excitement for a while was the two 4 1/2 foot gar. I did manage my first ever striper on an artificial, jigging a 1 1/2 oz crippled herring. They had pretty well left by 1000 so we searched for them from Burton Point to a little short of Rip Rap. Saw fish often enough, but no biters. On our way back in about noon, they were schooling just NWW of Susie G in 50 feet of water headed west. A couple quick casts yielded nothing before they were gone. Water temp on my equipment read 76.9.
Attempted to go fishing last evening looking for fish trying to jump in the boat, but it turned out to just be a boat ride. Me and BeaufortJay put in about 6:30 and then rode around looking for schooling fish and never found them.

I was out this morning also up in the Johns Creek area. Caught my five with the jigging spoon (I’m addicted to the spoon, what can I say?). Again nothing huge. 4 cookie cutter 20 inchers and one 23 inch. Every now and then I would see a few fish up top chasing bait but no real “schooling”. Had a few blowups on a topwater plug but no hookups.
What a beautiful morning! Nice and cool with a light breeze but once that breeze laid down it got hot quick! I knocked off about 11:00am
My bonus for the day was watching a Bald eagle fly over a few times.
