Murray Wednesday morning

First light was cold, foggy, and windy. Found fish, more than I’ve ever seen and longer than I’ve ever seen them at the entrance to Beard’s Creek close to the CG station in 50 feet of water. Fish were stacked from 35 to the bottom. But just like last Friday, we obviously didn’t do the right stuff to get them to bite. In all fairness, all we did was downrod, although many times I almost went to jigging a Crippled Herring. Wound up with one short and 10 catfish, the biggest being 7 pounds. Wind blew all day.

good job … I’ve NEVER caught a Catfish in Lake Murray … ever …

it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish now!!!

Did you try power reeling the bait up through the school?
Sometimes that can trigger a reaction bite from otherwise inactive fish.

No, we just wiggled the downrods occasionally and totally did not implement any of the fine “jigging” tips Fogman presented at the MSC meeting. That was our fault. Have to admit, though, the wind did get taken out of our sails, or at least mine, when I kneeled forward to remove a hook and couldn’t get back up. Another day or two and the back should be back to normal, I hope.

Sorry to read you hurt your back fishing Pattianne! I’ve been there. Lots of ibuprofen and as much iceing as you can stand will do the trick.
