Started fishing this weekend with a buddy who had never caught a striper before. I convinced him to be ready to go at 530 and we were on the water and had lines in right around 6. We saw a couple of other people at the dam that were catching a lot of shorts(15"-18") and so we pulled up and slow trolled around the towers. Took us a while to get a hook up after missing several but the first one we caught was a catfish followed by 2 18" stripers one of which was my buddies first. We moved to a couple of different spots with no luck just more misses and finally came back to the dam. About 10:30 one of the reels took off and finally had a keeper at 23" and a nice girth to it. We were off the water around 1 and called it a day. On Sunday I had another buddy call me who had never caught any so I took him out in the afternoon. Once again we went to the dam and tied up to a tower with the current pushing us away from it. We set there for about 2 hours with nothing and just as he was settling down and getting comfortable the reel right next to him started screaming. After about 10 minutes he finaly got the fish to the boat and it was a nice keeper right at 28". He didnt realize how nice of a fish it was until I went into detail on how peopel fish for years trying to catch one that size and that was his first one ever. Finished the day with one more short one around 12", but he couldn’t have been happier that he caught the big one. I would post pictures, but I have no idea how to. Sorry
