Murray yesterday

great day on the lake yesterday only caught 2 shorts brought back 15 keepers had 8 in the box by 845. Fished upper lake area fish were 25 to 35 ft deep caught a few on dwn Rds most were caught on weighted planer boards.could have caught all of them on dwn Rds and been done in an hr but wanted to pull planers

Yep. It was a good day to fish Lake Murray. Interestingly enough, all our good fish came in 15 feet of water or less.

We had a great morning like everyone else but everything was cookie cutter 5/6#…2 other boats around us each had a double digit fish. we just werent as lucky today as we were friday. We couldnt keep a full spread out until about 10 like everyone else said then it just shut off.

Last minute ditch effort we started pulling a long straight channel edge at 1mph just to cover ground and look for a big bite. About 30min into it we got our big bite. Real heavy feel to it pulling drag for a constant 5-10sec then nothing. Bait came back smashed up but zero teeth marks (def not a big gar). Weird part was hook had come out of the shads nose and was now firmly planted in the shads back. That fish must have had a huge mouth for all that to be going on inside of it…ha…but thats fishing. Congrats to all the winners and special shout out to the lawcrusher clan for a 3rd place finish and to liz for finally getting her double digit fish out of Murray.

Here is a pic of our friday fish. Feels good to get another one out of Murray. Fish was weighed in and then released. A 28 and 25# fish in 3 yrs out of Murray is a great feeling.

Our day never quit caught fish till we quit at 130

We caught our big fish of the day at 7:10-- 7-8 pounds. Then, we could just manage a couple 20 inchers. We made a big move. Gary had faith in the spot. My mind was on another move with it being close to noon and only one fish in the box. I got in 4 of the 5 rods on my side of the boat. When I reached for the last rod, the planer buried with a 6 pounder. From there on, it was “on like donkeykong!”

Great fish, Chip! Your time invested on the water is really paying off for you and those fortunate enough to fish with you (I count myself as one of those lucky ones!)
Those “memory” fish last longer than points or checks do, but congrats on the SBCC win.
Happy for you, man!
