Looking for an inshore/nearshore guide in the Murrells Inlet area. We’re interested in fishing with Captain Jeff with Reel Salty Charters, just wondering if anyone knows him?
I see good reviews with Fly Girl charters.
Thanks!

The last person I would ever charter a trip with would be E. Glover. I booked an offshore trip with him several years ago and he calls the morning of the trip while I am driving to meet him to tell me that as he was taking his boat to fuel up he hit a crab pot and busted the lower unit on one of the motors and wanted me to reschedule. Beware if you book him.
I also had bad trip with E. He was running little late. Then half way out to jetty he realized he forgot some card he had to have on boat. We went back to dock so he could get card. After 10 min or so looking he came back to boat and said i forgot i put on boat already. So by then we were running hr late. He was nice guy but did not seem to organized.
Could have just been bad day for him but was for us too since did not catch any fish.
I would call Capt. J with fishful thinking 843-902-0356
On time dependability and organized is very key to being a good Captain . If you have my$$$$$ at least be on time and have your **it in a neat pile.
Booked a nearshore trip with Capt. J. of Fishful Thinking. Looking forward to it!

I’d rather fish than eat.

Capt. J will put you on fish have fun!
Update: Fished with Captain J of Fishful Thinking today. Great guy and had a great time! He put us on inshore fish. Booking another trip with him in October.
Well Shrimpchoppin what did you want him to do run the boat burn up the foot. That makes no sense he is one of the most respected guides down there.
Captn Jay is a great guide have used a few times never disappointed

First off why would a respected guide be fueling the boat at 430 the morning of the trip? If that was the case, he is a very unprepared guide. Second, I have a close mutual friend who said he double booked for that day. There is no way you can make me believe hitting a crab pot at idle speed would put a hole in a lower unit. You are the first person I have ever heard say he was respected in the area and I live in the area.
I also live in the area and for 45 years. you don’t build a good business by dbl booking clients. I cant say he didn’t but I have never heard anything negative about him and most of my friends are guides, and they seem to like him.
Well there are two bad experiences in this thread which I’m sure is read by a small percentage of people. 50% of the people referring to him on this thread had something negative to say about him and 0% for Capt. J. I think the OP made the correct choice.
If you ask Capt Jay who has help promote his business he will tell you English Glover im not disputing the point im just telling you he has been a guide in MI as long as I can remember and you will always find someone to talk crap about someone. Capt J was a good choice but English would have been also but he no longer guides .
I disagree he would have been a good choice.
Oh well that’s why we all have our opinions. some are based on facts and some are not. We will just have to disagree on this one.
