Went out for a few hours on Saturday and fished a rising tide. Pretty good day caught about 30 specs with five keepers and a keeper sea bass. No big fish but a great day on the water.

The guy at the landing giving rides on the golf cart said that he knew of 9 boats that limited out on specs Saturday. They must be hitting it pretty good right now.
You may be joking or calling weakfish specs, but the two fish on the left are weakfish, then a speckled trout, and then a tautog. The tautog is a pretty rare catch around here! Congrats on the day.

1st time trout fishing so I don’t know I thought they were speckled Trout. I could not identify the tautog (until now). How do you tell between a Weakfish & a Spec? Thanks for the knowledge I have learned a lot from this site.

Weakfish will have yellowish fins. Also, you will notice from looking at the picture that weakfish have smaller and more abundant spots than a speckled sea trout. The regs are different too, you can only keep 1 weakfish per person and it must be larger than 12in TL.
I see the difference now, Thanks for the info.
