Just got some new toys on the boat and wanna see how good of a teacher Striperskiff is…lol… went out with him the other night and trolled some now wanna see if i can do it. Not that often you see a set of Penn Fathoms on a jon boat but gonna see how it goes. Anyone else gonna be out? If you wanna ride i don’t have alot of room but room for one. No live bait fishing tonight just trolling. on the water probably 815/830ish…side not probably gonna run a rapala sliver and a rebel jawbreaker, (both jointed) anyone know if a cisco kid will be too much drag on a release clip? looks like it has an awful big diving lip on it but its not made like a stretch’s lip, its metal but kinda wide. better yet ya’ll tell me what to pull out of this pic…
Looks like you might need a bigger cooler for your haul tonight!The relese clips I use have an adjustable clip just tighten for more drag or loosen for less lots of times I will run with rubber band it adds just a second more time to the hook set. Nice rig hope you kill em! I did hear that the spoons have been out fishing the plugs tho!
Ha that blue thing is the poor mans bait tank that I never gave back to Steelytom. Fish go in the big green one. Fotgot i even had those spoons till i was digging for plugs. Glad i didnt sell all those plugs. Had them all for sale about 4 months ago for 40$. Tim told me they dont even make some of them anymore.
Yea…they don’t make the large slivers any more…only the 5"…i ran into work for a bit today and picked up a couple of huge swimn baits on the way home…i may have to try tonight…my son called and they are just putting in and a friend of mine was out last night is going back out shortly…i may see u out there

Wound up catching a ride on a friends boat. We got 10, but most all really small fish…maybe 2 or 3 legit keepers. Right before dark they were bunched up in large schools. At one point the screen blacked out and we hooked a double. While we were unhooking our fish they actually started schooling near the boat and we got another 2 casting our plugs to them.
A little muggy out there, but otherwise a beautiful evening on the water.
Chip, I’m sure it will take a few trips to get the kinks worked out…at least you caught some fish on your first attempt!

May I ask why you chose to mount them up front instead of the rear. It looks to me that on a smaller width boat, mounting them up frontcould introduce problems with lines getting into the motor.
Glad you caught some fish. Everytime I try out something new I usually get skunked the first time.

Well bait shops were closed when i got away from dinner, so i said what the heck lets do it again. Didnt change a thing except now i dont have white caps killing me…lol… everything works great. Still a hassle setting the balls with the long arms but need the longer arms due to narrower boat. Lines in at 10. Looking for fish #5 to go home. Dont know why everyone is at the towers…fish are stacked big time on the 60-70’ humps. Wish i had some live bait, but then again this was a scouting trip.,
