must be doing something wrong

Hey guys and gals . Let me start by saying I hope everyone is having a great day .

I’ve been yak fishing the wateree lake for years with great success but since we moved to north charleston and I’ve been fishing the ashley (north bridge park area ) it seems like I just get skunked. Occasionally we will catch a toadfish or ray . I’m not looking for honey holes or anything just some tips or info that could help us put anything in the boat . We don’t mind if we don’t catch dinner .just like to have a good time . We have tried mostly bottom rigs with live and frozen thawed shrimp .

Thanks in advance for any responses and taking the time to look at the post

Welcome Nick!

First rule of Charleston fishing - “there are no fish in the Ashley River”

They are out there - find the pilings and oysters and other structure and you’ll find the fish. Don’t be scared to throw some plastics. Also, there are many other places around town to fish…search through these pages and you’ll find a treasure-trove of info.

nick, same here new to fishing the area and have tried the flats and creeks around that area and have been skunked twice (one hookup i lost)
I’ve seen lots of action on the water and even some tailing fish but they don’t seem to be too hungry no matter what I try
will be looking to try a new area now

It’s all about the Tide here

Main River- Best is 2hrs before or after low tide - creek run outs + up along the grass

Right now HIGH tide - Reds are in the grass 1ft or less of water -

BEST - look for mid day high tide
