I fished the tournament with yakman72 and his cousin on his cousin’s boat. We put in around 8:00 and went to get bait. Bait was running everywhere and it wasn’t hard to get a ton of minnows, mullet, and shrimp. We saw a few blacktips tailing and pushing shrimp as well as a bunch of dolphin.
From the time we started fishing around 8:30 until 12:00 noon we were on fire and caught most of our fish. We fished various structures like docks in the area and did great catching reds. The redfish we used for the weigh in at the tournament was 22 and 3/4 inches and weighed 4.20 lbs.
I also caught my biggest overslot red at 28". It was a really nice fish and was ridiculously fun to reel in. I also caught two 12" trout. We caught a ray, toadfish, and a baby gar. It was an awesome day and can’t wait to fish it again next year. Thanks to yakman72 and his cousin for taking me with them as well.

22-3/4 Inch Redfish sounds pretty strong, how did it do in the Tournament?
It’s the top fish, the bottom one was my overslot 28". It was a big fish and it was strong, not as strong as the overslot though. There was no 2nd, 3rd, or 4th there was only 1st. If there were other places we would have gotten third. The red weighed 4.20 lbs and the other two were around 5.2 and then 5.9 which is ridiculous.

Enjoyed putting y’all on the fish Ryan. That fish was a 4th place fish 5+lb won. Lets go again soon. Nice work on all them fish. How did you cook your catch?

Oh word thanks Jeffrey, I agree we need to go again soon. I start school on the 19th so any times before then are good. I’ll drive to ya and I can help with gas and bait. I cooked the red but I’m eatin my two trout tomorrow. The fish that won was ridiculous.
