My boat was capsized from a real friendly yacht!

Was out in the harbor Saturday 5/17 and an ignorant person with a 30 to 40 foot boat decided they wanted to plow right by me and my fianc? about 50 ft away and I had 4 foot wakes capsize my boat and flipped my boat, I had just got new rods and lost those which was $1200, lost my boat, and lost a brand new yeti cooler, today I had to get a friend to come out and tow our boat which was out at the tip of the north jetty thankfully cause the anchor grabbed. The boat is practically trash now. If anyone has found the cooler please let me know it would really be appreciated! Thank you and god bless.

That sucks. Glad you and the woman are OK.

sorry to hear about your situation and I’m glad that you and your fianc? are ok. I don’t know if you can lay blame on a yacht that was heading out through the jetties in open water. I’ve been out there a few times in our 17ft cc and decided that there was a little too much chop for me to be comfortable, turned around and headed for calmer water. One definitely needs to be careful at the jetties, especially in a smaller flats style boat. Glad that you’re ok.

We over by the big rock wall on sullivans close to the icw

That’s a pic of the boat today when we retrieved it from the jettys where it drifted to.

I would also like to thank those who helped out with getting us dry and calling coat guard if you are reading this.

I was out on the Wando today and a huge boat was going toward the Upper part as we were heading in. About 70 yards away, he cuts it really hard right towards me and I had to steer to go around him. I was in a BassTracker and did not want that fight…what a douche

Did you get the registration number of the big boat? If so, call me at 576-2000 and I will get you compensated for your losses.

I took pics of this on the way in from an offshore trip. We called the coastguard but apparently it was already called in. Thats a small boat to be out in the harbor. Thats more of a creek/river boat. I have one very similar and I wouldn’t be anywhere near busy waterways.

still worth soaking and trying to get running again.

Sorry for your loss. Man that water looks like the keys.

Wow!!! Glad you both were ok. That had to be scary. I guess he waked your transom? Hopefully the rocks didn’t get the boat and it’s salvagable.

i wonder if that was the same yaht that was cruising down the wando at a good clip, kicking up a 4-6ft wake. It rolled by a jon boat and it’s nose headed to the sky. He was lucky he didn’t plow the next wave. That wake rocked my friend’s 24’ Pathfinder pretty good.

Lots of stupid stuff saturday. Saw a family floating their boat with the outgoing current, kids and Dad floating behind the boat in tubes, and the two women in the boat trying to start the outboard motor?!

Bowfin, that’s prob the same yacht I’m talking about in the Wando…if it happened Sunday about 3ish?

Charleston has the most inconsiderate boaters/people I have ever been around. When i’m fishing almost no one slows down when they pass. A lot of times I go to Edisto just to get away from all the ^$$ holes.

Charleston use to be part of the Lowcountry and is now compared to S. Florida. What a shame.

I have been swamped by a yacht on the Waldo. Came right by within 25 yards while I was anchored. Sent a 4 foot wake of water into my boat. Next time I’ll get the registration numbers.
