My favorite flat gone!

Went to it this afternoon and it was covered with grass. About 30" of thick grass covered the entire area (a good 1.5 acres). I have fished it for the past three years with no sign of any sprouts or anything. Got to it today and thought I took a wrong turn or something. Got out and walked only to realize it will never be the same. Have seen at least 20 tails at a time and even schools of sheepshead up on what use to be sand/mud flat. Last time I was up there was last fall. I have only been seriously targeting flats fishing for three or four years. Is this something that happens in a cycle or is it gone for good? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Forgot to mention it was in the cooper. Side note I did find another, new to me flat, that looked fishy but didn’t hang out too long as there was a storm barreling down on us.

interesting. i lost one too recently.

i blame the tug boats going to nucor.

and opti.

and bonzo.

and dfreedom

Hard to blame a guy that hasn’t seen salt in 2 months and hasn’t been on it in 4. Now Bonzo and Optiker maybe.

It’s off of Clouter so the barges and tugs wouldn’t have anything to do with it. Only thing I can guess is maybe the increase in boat traffic?

You are right of course. It will never be the same.

NEVER.
