I accepted a position in Pittsburgh and I start on the 24th, so I figured this would be my last chance to fish. I’ve certainly enjoyed the lake and all the people I’ve met and will be missing it as I freeze in the north this winter.
Went out with Steverino Saturday morning the 8th. Got 4 dozen of those nice shad from Chip and we hit #4. Marked fish at Hawleek and trolled around the mouth for a few hours. We picked up 5 keepers there, biggest was 24". Around 10:30 we went up into the big saluda and found some birds working the mouth of bush river right near the little island. Pulled up and caught some shorts and 2 more small keepers. Kept pulling boards back into bush and picked up a nice 26" fatty. Fished out in the river a little longer and quit about 2. Most of my fish came on planers, most of steves on shallow down rods. Steve caught another one of his clasic steverino’s too.
I kept my bait to try again Sunday, went out the last 1.5 hours of daylight. Marked a ton of bait around #4 and marked a few nice arches on the ff. Pulled boards in that cove and caught this nice 27" fish. Checked hawleek for the last part of the daylight and never had another hit.
Well I never got to know you, but I’ve read your reports and wish that I had gotten the opportunity to fish with you. I’m not going to wish you luck because something tells me that luck wasn’t what got you to this point. Instead, I wish you success in your new career path and happiness in your new home. I believe that they have internet in Pittsburgh so you should at least be able to keep tabs on those of us stuck down here:smiley:.

Hate to see you go Tom and thanks for all the reports. Have a safe trip and Good Luck to you and your family on your new adventure.
I know you probably got a lot going on with moving and all, but if you can slip away sometime over the weekend or one evening next week for a cold one let us know and maybe meet somewhere over your way.
Best wishes in you new adventures Tom. Sorry to see you go. I think I’ve met you once or twice.( with the way my memory is, I’m always meeting new people ) As Bowhunter said, they have the internet up there too, so keep in touch.
If yall do meet over the weekend for a cold one or three, let me know. I’ll be there.
