SSIA - here it is what do you think? I need to get curved scissors and some flexible razors to get it ever sharper I think. Can’t wait to pitch it to some smallies!!! Never really spun deer hair before. This fly took me about 1.5 hours. Slow but fun.

I second the nice job! My first hair packin/spinnin effort was way uglier!
Also like already mentioned there is no need to make them look production quality. I like em spun pretty sparse so they don’t sit right on top of the water…sliding right under the surface film is deadly.
antelope is much easier/more buoyant, but you can cut it if you pull too tight. i like to spin/stack but it does take time. that looks good. any more finish would only be for humans.
Yeah, I’ve already discovered that not all deer hair is great for spinning. My chart. bucktail sucks! I need to find a good source for stiff, coarse deer hair dyed in a bunch of good colors. Anyone know a good company that sells deer hair specifically for spinning.
…I know I could probably look around and find a good source but some tyers out there might be able to save me the time and money and just point me in the right direction…

Great job for your first. I’ve been spinning deer hair for as long as I’ve been tying. Very fun, but it does take awhile. Nothing makes a sound like a deer hair bug though.
