my first fish from a yak

I work third shift and decided to go fishing after work. I got off at 0630 this morning and headed toward a spot i heard was great. I got to the water about 0715. There was only one other person at the launch site. I bought a cast net yesterday from sports authority and put it to good use this morning. It only took me two casts to realize how to get the net to open propperly. In about 30 minutes my bait bucket had a little more than a dozen menhaden. not many schools running this morning. the other guy caught more than i did on one throw of his net by luck. I then decided to head out on the water. not knowing the area that well i didnt really venture to far. the reds could be heard crashing around in the water in the grass on all sides of me. I was having no luck. It was getting a little late and I have to work tonight so i decided to head back to the landing. On the way in i passed another kayaker and he said if only we could get into the grass with the fish. I thought to myself wait a second we have kayaks we can. I turn hard left and cut through some grass just to discover my first flat. I spotted tails almost instantly. I got my first menhaden on a jig head and dangled him over the edge of the kayak while i watched for the first red to come within casting distance. well the first tail i saw after that was not even 5 feet from my yak and i could see him but he saw me and darted the other way. then to my left a nice tail flash about 20 feet away. I cast and as soon as my bait hit the grass filled water i see the grass moving in the direction of my bait. my drag starts buzzing and i hook my first ever red on a kayak not to mention only my second one ever. I wish i had my camera with me on the yak but its not waterproof so I didnt want to chance it. after fighting the red for a few minutes i land him in the net and can tell he is a slotty. I decide he will taste delicious and put him on ice. i get back to the truck to see that he is 21" which if i am not mistaken blows my other record out of the water. I wait for
