My First Red

I dropped in today at the Wando off 17 N outside of N. Mt. P. The water was moving and the tide was on the way out. I went upstream so I could drift back to take out later. After an hour of fishing, moving up stream and no bites I paddled further upstream. I anchored up on a sandbar looking outcropping and cast across the water. I was reeling my jig in slowly and got hammered. I wasn’t sure what it was but the drag was rolling and my hands were full. It took me a bit to get the fish to the 'yak b/c every time he got close he’d head back out and so it went until the fish chilled enough to let me bring it in and unhook.
It measured 25 inches on my DNR sticker on the side of my ride. I got a few shots and revived and released it for another day. I can’t believe how strong this fish was and the fun in the fight. I’m hooked.
