My first redfish of 2014

35 inches caught in my kayak, this fish was caught on a 1/4 ounce jig head with a 4 inch salt water assassin on James Island. It took me and the kayak for a ride and was a blast. These winter reds are very timid on the bite, plan to miss a few if you are fishing with a lure. Sorry for the terrible pic, but it is difficult getting a pic in the kayak unless you have someone else with you… :sunglasses:

Wow, good for you. Those bigger reds are so much fun in a yak. They’ll definitely give you a ride if they don’t get under a dock or something.

congrats!!! too cold for me to be out on the water!!

Wait until the summer. That guy would have given you a reel ride

Nice! I cleaned the gear for the winter, but this makes me want to head out and brave the cold. Just curious: where on James Island did you catch him?

Hello, I caught him in seaside creek (close to where seaside and lighthouse creeks meet). Hope it will warm up enough for this weekend, if not the extended forecast for next weekend is looking good.

Wish’n I was FISH’N, but unfortunately at work…
