Went to Myrtle Beach to see the family. Caught a 150 pound Tarpon. It was fun.Definitely different than striper fishing.

She wooped my butt! took an hour and a half to get to the thre boat and she still wasn’t having anything to do wih us. We got a hand on the leader twice before the double handed finally at the end.
She turned an 8/0 circle hook into a toothpick and broke the hook in half.

No we caught about 20 others that were just a hair a smaller. They were called mullet caught in what he called a “cast net”.
Thanks! Who knows what she really weighed. Probably between 110-135. I just don’t know why my first had to be so fiesty. I mean I have seen bigger fish come to the boat in 30 minutes and just give up a say hear, do what want with me. I believe this girl would have jumped in the boat if she hadn’t broke off.

Tarpon are fun (my first one was a 180 pounder in Boca Grande pass in Florida) but you can’t eat them…

Congrats on your Boca tarpon. Something interesting that I was told from the BTT satellite tagging guys is that the Florida tarpon seem to be starving down there compared to the gorging that they do up here all summer on our big food supply. They lose 20% of there girth from the time they are tagged here to when they get caught in Florida next spring.
