My Last Boat V - 6-8-07

Finally got the wife to go offshore with my 10 yr old and a friend from work. Took a woopin on the way out. I was second guessing going on because my 1o yr old son was nervous (Last time I took him out it got real nasty and he got beat up. so he did not want it to happen again) and I wanted the wife to have a good time (daddy needs new stand-up gear ). We were headed to the SW banks, but decide to run out toward Comanche and troll out from there. Lots of flyers and broken weeds everywhere. Had 5 lines out, Penn 4/0 and 6/0 my brother gave me, 2 Walmart Shakespeare, and a Penn spinning rig.

Son Slept until he heard “fish on”, then he was up.

Ended the day with 4 dolphin all small, which was good because I needed to work on my gaffing. One Bonita that wooped my sons butt. And a very small Cuda (looked like a big trout). 3 dolphin, bonita and the cuda hit the one spinning rod with a naked garnet and black lure (yep USC colors). One dolphin hit a naked blue and white lure on the Walmart rig.

It was a good day of fishing with the family.

Nice report,You don’t need all the fancy stuff to have a great day with your family.Keep up the good work.

My son is still talking about it, so I think he is back to my fishing partner. My wife has new appreciation for offshore fishing (she was tired as hell afterwards). Also her arms were sore on saturday.

Thanks to Brent for putting up with my family.
