Again, congratulations on your boat. As said before, be safe on the water.
If I were you, or any other beginning striper fisherman, I’d think about joining up with Midlands Striper club for some pointers on striper fishing. Check out their website for tips, rigging, etc. They are a great bunch of folks. I’m not a member, but I know a few of them. The membership fee is very reasonable and would easily pay for itself in the gas savings on a lake like Murray. Stripers move around depending on the season and starting in the right location with the right set-up will increase your odds of success and save you a lot of gas money. I fish small largemouth tournaments and I also enjoy fishing with the spoons for white perch. As an “old timer”, I’ve fished Murray for many years. Most of us older guys will be glad to help with general locations and rigging options. Don’t be afraid to ask questions either here or on the Midlands Striper forum. I’ve been very fortunate to have fished with Fogman several times for stripers. Never too old to learn new fishing tricks. Learn all you can from everyone if you really want to be a good fisherman. Then decide what works best for you. Good luck!
Just to be clear. Even now, as an “old timer” I’m still learning different fishing set-ups and techniques. Never stop learning.
Congratulations buddy! Im 15 and I’ve got a boat I bought too. It may not be that nice but buying a boat before you get a job(Had the boat for almost a year now) is something of an accomplishment! That’s a sweet ride, if youre looking for somebody to fish with when you make it down here shoot me a PM. Its a nice feeling being on the water in YOUR own boat, even if you see a buddy in a nicer boat that their daddy bought for them. Good luck in that thing, catch em up!

Good for you. Remember this for the rest of your life; don’t ever pay interest. COLLECT IT!

congrats on the purchase buddy and thats a nice looking boat! Also you have alot more sense than most grown men i know by saving up and buying it outright. Too many people try to live above their means and are a slave to payments. Im sure that boat will do everything a new boat would for you and your a hell of a lot less in the hole for it. Its nice to see young people with such financial sense, keep it up and it will serve you very well in the future. I hope you catch a bunch of fish and young ladies in that boat
Thanks everyone for all the replies. My dad always tells debt is a bad 4 letter word
