What do you catch offshore? Reds? Sharks?
Ive caught sharks, blues, rays , flounder, But Im new to the area so I dont know of any good spots, The farthest Ive been is a mile offshore, so at this point its been guessing on my part, I have a depth finder on my kayak, but havnt found any great stucture yet.
Have you been fishing the holes/dropoffs? How big were the sharks you caught.
from what Ive seen, at least at the beach in surfside, Its a gradual slope, the deepest water Ive been in was about 35ft, and that was about mile offshore, The sharks Ive caught have been 4 footers they look like sharpnose, but Im not completely sure, they drag you around a bit trying to land them, its a challange in a kayak. Do you know of any spots in that area? drop offs? structure? etc
Not really no. I have only went offshore once and i did not catch anything. What rig, bait and what size weight do you use?
villa, its been about ten years since I lived in Surfside, is the beach down at the end of Garden City still steep? If not, that would be a good beach launch that would make a short paddle to the jetties. Plus if they are catching Kings off the pier…catch ya some Blues and do some trolling.
Mud
Out in front of oceanlakes campground just north of the surfside pier, could be something there that holds fish, I remember seeing alot of boats fishing there.

Im going to check it out as soon as I mend, I also heard in front of the hotel there might be some structure, I think I was to far out last time I was looking for it, I was recently told its like 75 yards off shore not 500,
3 broken ribs has kept me off the water for the past 3 weeks as of this coming sat, I hope I didnt kill my summer by falling down a flight of stairs and just when the water started warming up, talk about bad luck!
after choking down 3 percocet, Ive managed one day of surf fishing and it wasnt very productive, I was able to cast net 2 flounder and a 25lb cow nose ray in the surf, but never got a bite on the line, I guess it doesnt matter how, at least it was dinner:frowning_face:
