The fishing opportunities in MB are pretty much limited to surf/piers. Best bet is to go north to fish Cherry Grove/Little River or south to Murrell’s Inlet.

Do beware of flying lead.

Nice

You need to go straight to a “Shrink” and get your head examined. x2 on the Kevlar and make sure your vest can stop a blade as well. But Murrells Inlet has good fishing. If you don’t mind being waked out by all the drunks that can’t drive a boat and have no clue what proper boat etiquette is. But Just offshore used to be pretty good Spanish fishing around the fishing buoy area.

fishing from the beach is a PITA, generally speaking, but there are ways to make it tolerable. I have caught whiting, flounder, bluefish, and shark in the surf there (don’t let anyone see you land a shark, the tourists are insane and it’s illegal to intentionally fish for sharks someone is bound to call the cops). I lived there for a year and managed to fish in mornings and evenings from the surf there with occasional success, but long periods of not catching anything. Look for troughs in the surf and try there. I could have had more success, but I didn’t feel like migrating down the beach very far. The tide, wind, currents, and tourists all work against you more often than not. You can’t fish in publicly guarded areas during 10am-6pm hours (or very similar hours) in the summer months. The odds are not in your favor for fishing from the surf. I’ve heard that you can have success at the piers because they tend to attract fish, but I never felt like getting that close and personal with the tourists.

I went fishing with one of the head boats out of little river a couple times. Had a good time and caught some good fish. It was a reasonable price too. Both times though, the deckhand filleted fish as if he were blind. He was getting like 1 lb fillets off of a grouper. So I didn’t let him fillet my fish, and I just did them myself. Maybe he has improved his skill by now or someone else is there.

Find someone with a boat and go offshore for best results basically.
