Heard a noise early this morning and the motor was trimmed all the way up and trim motor steady running. Trimmed it down and it went back up by it’s self, it would not stay down, so I unplugged the battery, any suggestions?
Sounds like either the relay or switch is stuck.
Had that happen to me once, water had gotten into the switch.
Do you have a trim rocker switch in the front of your boat where you plug in your trolling motor. The reason I ask is because I had the same issue. It was due to water get into that rocker switch causing a short.

I have replaced both the op and down relays and it still goes up by it’s self. I sprayed some Corrosion X on the switch in the motor cowling and the switch on the console throttle control and it stopped, seems to function ok for now. I’m just worry that it will start again when I’m not home.
I’d replace the switches for good measure, but don’t rule out a rubbed wire in the harness. You may have moved it just enough to not make connection if you tuged on the harness some. ??
