N 2 Deep 5-1 report - Z-man skirts were smokin

We left Tolers Cove at 4am and was met with the sloppy sea. It was a slow ride but we put lines in at the ledge at 6:45. We caught a Mahi here and there until we got out to 430-450ft and found the 74 degree water. Then the fire drills were on. As soon as we filled the main fish box, I said “thats enough lets pack it up and head home”. On the ride in we decided to high speed troll since the ride was going to be slow anyway. We nailed a ~25lb Wahoo, ~45lb Wahoo, and a nice Mahi all within just a few minutes of each other on the high speeds. With the second box filling up quickley and the ice supply running low, I made the decision to pull the lines in for good. The thoughts of how long it was going to take to clean our catch was the main thing going through my head. We had a great time, but enough was enough. We caught the meat that each of us went out there for and we did not need anymore. We missed several mahi but ended up having a great day. The final tally was 15 Mahi ranging from ~13-~30lbs and 2 nice Wahoo.

The last two trips out I have been running about half of my spread with Z MAN lures. Almost every fish we have landed hit those lures. The SilaFlash natural color has been on fire with the Chugger Z or Needler Z (Stainless or acrylic)head. I have run them on the planer, the wtfb, outriggers, short center, etc. It does not seem to matter where they are in the spread. I have seen fish cruise right by other baits to get to these. Before anyone makes the usual comment - no I am not getting sponsored or am recieving any benefit to saying any of this. Their lures have been red hot in my spread and I just thought I would share this with you.

thanks for the report…
